7 Botanical Books
Here are 7 Botanical Books I browsed after borrowing them from the Boone County Public Library. The one that taught me the most was Bringing Nature Home, which really brought into focus for me the need for planting and preserving our native plants.
I appreciated the artful intentions of gardeners and landscape architects from the perspective of the author of The Gardener’s Palette. I appreciated how the author knew whether the varieties he would plant would result in cool pink blooms or a warm pink blooms. Of course, he taught the basics of the color wheel and how to make a color scheme. I love how he discussed layering the colors and planning for the length of the blooming seasons.
I enjoyed the illustrations and facts from Arboretum and Botanicum. They are beautifully crafted books of facts that help you understand basic botany and taxonomy of plants. Since I’m visual, it was much more enjoyable to browse these books than a standard textbook. Check it out!
