Description
Clothed in Glory – The Iris by Lindsey Kiser
Clothed in Glory – The Iris is an original artwork, measuring 6″ x 6″ unframed, by Lindsey Kiser completed in traditional scratchboard by removing the black ink off of the surface of the panel with the sharp tip of a sewing needle to expose the white china clay underneath. Clothed in Glory is iridescent, resulting in variations of color and sheen depending on the angle of the light source. This piece is a rare jewel!
THE ARTISTIC PROCESS
In May, I observed the irises I planted in my flowerbed in front of my house. I took several photographs at various times of the day over the course of a week. I composed the composition in my mind’s eye back in the studio. I etched the scratchboard with a sharpened sewing needle to reveal the white clay under the black layer. After adding colorful inks, I glazed the iris with iridescent watercolor to catch the light. I then scratched back into the colorful ink and added a bit more color until I was happy with the effect. Finally, a layer of protective varnish was added.
This artwork comes framed in a black frame. Shipping included for continental U.S. addresses.
