This 5″ x 5″ original scratchboard of a fawn in fetal position is an ode to new beginnings. Waiting on Mama was the very first scratchboard completed in her 30 Scratchboards in 30 Days challenge completed in January 2017, which reignited her passion for art-making that led to her starting LinZ Art Gallery LLC in 2022.
Waiting on Mama was included in her solo art exhibition at the Boone County Public Library in Burlington, Kentucky in March 2018, which was her first solo art exhibition since 2002 after having left art for the practice of patent law and for having and nurturing two darling daughters. So, you could say that this scratchboard started it all. Furthermore, there will never be another chance to own an original scratchboard by Lindsey Kiser at this entry level price.
Lastly, Waiting on Mama has significance in Lindsey Kiser’s personal life. The day she brought her firstborn home from the hospital, Lindsey had been outmatched. On her way up the driveway, there she saw under a maple tree a newborn fawn, born that very morning, waiting on her mama. It only seemed fitting to honor that memory with the start of her professional art career with this simple scratchboard, Waiting on Mama.
