Beauty Bears an Ultra Fringe is an original 6″ x 6″ scratchboard by Lindsey Kiser.
I found this beautiful fungus out on a routine hike with my family. I literally almost stepped over this little beauty without noticing it, and what a shame that would have been! Its form is so unearthly and, yet, what is more earthy than fungus? Its sheen is luminous. It looks almost like a terrestrial corral. Fascinating. It’s job is to be our clean-up crew, our garbage disposal, recycling waste into fertilizer for a lush forest floor. It is a simple reminder to me to look for beauty all around. Focusing on the positive, brings more positivity and beauty into my life. Could you use more beauty?
The title of this work comes from the poem “Still Will I Harvest Beauty Where It Grows” by Edna St. Vincent Millay.
