Description
Glints Through the Garden is an original acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped canvas. The painting is 48″ x 48″.
My husband and I witnessed twenty (yes! 20!) ruby-throated hummingbirds AT ONCE on our feeders on our wrap-around porch last summer. We were captivated. We were also making a gallon of sugar water every single day and refilling the feeders three times per day. Maybe that’s what it takes? Sadly, we never did find a nest—no doubt because they are minuscule.
This January, to prevent the winter blahs from kicking in, I searched my soul for inspiration and landed on the glorious colors and forms of the crape myrtle surrounded with the mesmerizing energy of the swift ruby-throated hummingbirds. While my earlier body of work was completed in muted earth tones, I needed bright beautiful color to match the happiness in my life.
This image is taken directly from my side yard where a gorgeous crape myrtle is rooted on the bank of a pond.
